Squirrel thinks big dog's fur is the ideal place to store his sizeable nut treat

Hilarious video of secret squirrel trying to store his crunchy snack inside confused Bernese Mountain Dog's thick fur.

Forget about giving the dog a bone - this squirrel would rather use his canine friend to store his nuts.

Little does he know, however, that the confused Bernese Mountain Dog he's trying to ram his crunchy snack into is just a big ball of fur rather than a leafy bush or tree.

This hilarious clip shows the moment the confused squirrel - and the perhaps even more perplexed dog - are left almost entirely stumped by one another.

Having acquired a sizeable nut, the grey squirrel is looking for somewhere to keep it hidden safe until he chooses to eat it.

The perfect spot? A massive black bush.

However, far from being what he thinks it is, the makeshift food store he continually presses the nut into is in fact the laying dog's furry belly.

Much to the rodent's bemusement, his treat just won't stick no matter how hard he squeezes it in place, bouncing back to his little paws then down on to the floor.

All the while, the Bernese Mountain Dog - although appearing very confused, and somewhat concerned, by what is happening - watches on intently, eager to establish just what his squirrel friend is trying to achieve.

Despite the rodent's desperate attempts - which even includes pushing the nut into the dog and then trying to layer it with fur - his efforts inevitably fail.

That in itself then leads to an additional cute moment, when the nut rolls to the ground surprising both dog and squirrel, both of whom then try to sniff out where it came from.

The video of the side-splitting exchange has been watched more than 100,000,000 times on Facebook, where most viewers have complimented the caring dog's patience.
